Bamboo Tattoos
|
| |
Bamboo tattooing is a traditional tattoo technique,
today still practiced in places like Hawaii, Samoa, Japan and Thailand.
It is done by puncturing the skin with the needle gently, adjusting the strength of the hands.
Bamboo tattooing uses a piece of bamboo made into chopstick shape, with on one end of the stick a needle attached.
The tattoo artist uses one hand to hold the handle and do the piercing, the other hand supports the stick.
This method of handmade tattooing requires lots of practice, but the results can, just as with a machine made tattoo, be beautiful.
A bamboo tattoo reduces friction while piercing, plus with practice it will not penetrate the skin as deep as a tattoo machine.
Therefore a bamboo tattoo inflicts less pain and bleeding.

With slow, light piercing
bamboo tattooing will not inflict wounds or cause infections. You can therefore swim or sunbathe right away.
All you have to do after the tattoo has been set:
apply Vaseline on the tattoo before taking a bath, swim or sunbathe during the first week after tattooing;
do not apply soap on the tattoo for at least 2-3 days because the soap can cause inflammation;
do not apply any creams or oil and do not scratch when the new tattoo feels irritated.
Any irritation is caused by changing of the old epidermis.

I use quality colours for all tattoos. With any kind of tattoo method, I can create shades and dark and light colours are possible.
And the colours are lasting, just as with a machine tattoo.
Also with a bamboo tattoo you can be assured about the hygiene: needles are always new.
